We met on OkCupid, where Albert’s unusual first-date idea, involving an abandoned train in the woods, gave off more “true crime” than “romance.” Taking her brother Chase’s warning to heart, Devon saved the woodland photo adventure for their second date. Our actual first date was spent bar hopping in New Hope. Photo taken of Albert by Devon on our second date hiking Mt. Tammany....2 days after the attempted murder was to take place.

On our first date Albert spoke of a dream to travel the U.S. in a vintage VW bus. After 6 months of playing relationship chicken and making travel plans we hit the road for 5 weeks. Only one week in a vintage VW since neither of us knew how to drive stick.

After spending time together in Bristol during the chaos of COVID, Devon and Noel officially moved in, repainting the kitchen cabinets and making the most of their 300 square foot riverfront apartment. Also in the U-Haul were three of Devon's best friends: Soni, Phil, and Sarah.

We didn’t realize it then, but buying a house and starting a business together was our unofficial marriage. We were all in!

We jetted off to Washington State, where we had said I love you for the first time 5 years prior. After enjoying romantic dinners and the urban life in Seattle for a few days we headed to Olympic National Park. Dev was suspicious Albert had a question to ask so she made sure to pack a dress for every hike that trip. After spending the morning exploring the Hoh Rain Forest we raced rising tides to Rialto Beach to see Hole-in-the-Wall. Albert got down on one knee and asked "Adventures Forever?" under the natural stone arch, surrounded by neon coral and purple starfish. We sat on the drift wood for hours afterwards and eventually got trapped by the tide coming in. After hiking up the rock formation back towards our car we sat on the beach drinking gin and tonics and watching whales jump in front of the setting sun. We can't wait to go back and camp on the beach to see the bioluminescent algae after dark!
